The History of Reiki

According to historical accounts, Dr. Usui underwent an intense 21-day meditation retreat on Mount Kurama, where he experienced a profound spiritual awakening and received the knowledge of Reiki healing. He then developed the Usui Reiki system and began teaching and sharing this powerful practice.

Reiki was later introduced to the West by Hawayo Takata, a Japanese-American woman who trained with one of Usui’s students. She brought Reiki to the United States in the 1930s, and since then, it has spread worldwide, evolving into various styles while maintaining its core principles of energy healing and holistic wellness.
